Your donation provides warm clothing, blankets, and heating fuel to keep families alive through the harsh winter months.
The Syrian Refugee Winter Crisis
After 13 years of conflict, 6.8 million Syrian refugees face another harsh winter in inadequate conditions. Many live in overcrowded camps, informal settlements, or damaged buildings without proper heating, insulation, or winter clothing.
Winter temperatures in refugee-hosting areas can drop to -10°C (14°F), creating life-threatening conditions for families living in tents and makeshift shelters. Children are particularly vulnerable to hypothermia, pneumonia, and other cold-related illnesses.
The economic situation has worsened dramatically. 80% of Syrian refugees live below the poverty line, unable to afford heating fuel, warm clothing, or adequate food. Many families must choose between heating their shelter or buying food for their children.
In Lebanon and Jordan, where many refugees have found temporary shelter, the cost of heating fuel has increased by 300% in recent years. Families burn plastic, cardboard, and even furniture to stay warm, creating dangerous indoor air pollution.
